To beat the heat, we took a trip to the local & free Edmond Historical Museum (401 S Boulevard, Edmond) yesterday. We haven't been in probably about 6 months, but every time we go we all have a blast.
Museum hours are Tues-Fri 10am-5pm & Sat 1pm-4pm
Admission: free (donations accepted)
They have a great children's play area where kids and the young at heart can reenact the good 'ole days.
The dress-up area in the back is normally neat & orderly...however, in this pic it is in the process of being trashed by a day camp...
The girls, almost without fail, spend most of their time in the garden, block, and art centers. :o)

Another great plus about the museum is that it has a great rocket ship-themed park right outside it, which the girls are finally old enough to play on without getting scared (of heights)...most of the time.

The museum is also right across from Hideaway Pizza, a small, OK-based chain that we used to frequent before Matt started his gluten-free diet. They make a mean Mediterranean pie and their salads are delicious too! It is also right down the road from Boulevard Steakhouse and Cafe 501, also yummy local restaurants. We celebrated Matt's selection for AF pilot training at the Steakhouse last fall and recently dined at Cafe 501, during a phase where we were trying to sample all the Ahi tuna dishes in the area...our interest in this faded after: Outback, Cafe 501, Boulevard Steakhouse, Crabtown x 2 (they have two dishes), Cheesecake Factory, and Sushi Neko (winners: Sushi Neko for flavor, the Steakhouse for portion size, and Cheesecake Factory for salad version). Crabtown had the best ambiance and is the most kid-friendly, but every time we order anything besides their famous crab boil, it ends up being a little too sugary, saucy, and cooked for our tastes. :o)
