Tinker AFB: Summer Fest

Now that Matt has received his commission and is days away from reentering Active Duty, we have been enjoying AF life a little more at Tinker...when we were months/years away from our big goal, I really avoided going because it always made me jealous (there were definitely some hard times that made me miss base life and security [financial, healthcare, etc.]). But now that this journey is nearing its end and we are preparing for a much more exciting and flexible future, we have been enjoying base events, such as Summer Fest. It is really amazing how many fun and free activities bases worldwide sponsor to make families feel at home wherever they are stationed. :o)

At Summer Fest, we enjoyed a plethora of Bounce Houses, unlimited carnival games, a cookout, a rock climbing wall, antique car show, a magician during lunch, live music, and more. But the hands-down highlight was the enclosed mini hot air balloon. This was Ha's favorite activity when we went to the base Air Show two summers ago, and both of the girls adored it this time around. I was shocked that V flew right up without batting an eye. She definitely looks up to her big sis a lot! The crew let me sit in the inflatable so I could film the girls' experiences, too! :o)

Ha won a small white elephant koosh in the kids' tent.
Showing off their new tatts!
V enjoying her prize: bubbles!
Ha tackling the rock wall! She made it about 1/3 up...not bad for her first climb! She is all over the ones at most parks and can tackle most of them on her own. :o)
V enjoying the view!
